Analog film wedding photographer
A search for something different
Analog film will always have a sweet spot in my heart and my vision as a wedding photographer but for any kind of photography in general.
It’s been my way of shooting from the early days and I had different darkrooms in my life, to create the most beautiful print I can reach…for a physical approach versus files that are stored to a destiny of forgetfulness.
I like digital, I know photography is not about the medium but the moment.
But at the end, what’s the destiny of all those files we create every day? Why nobody prints anymore his daily life moments?
Shooting film is a totally different approach that at the end produces big differences. The amount of shots, the concentration, the approach is totally different and this leads to different results.
Wedding photography with film: a bit of imperfection and pictures poetry.
Life is not perfect, so having pictures with a bit of grain and imperfections results in something that really tells the story. Color becomes real, without need for screaming. It’s more poetic and gentle.
Digital is fast, convenient and makes the job done. But fil, both 35mm and medium format is just…fun, love, beauty.
It takes a little bit of time to wait, you don’t know the exact result (at least you can’t check it) but in the end everytime I look at the results I keep wondering why I don’t use it as the only medium…time will tell.
Shooting your wedding with film: the process.
During your wedding we can use both mediums: Digital and film. They both can work together in different way, for different uses, lights, situations…
You can be able to choose both 35mm and medium format film.
Once back, I will personally process the film in my own darkroom, and make super-high resolution scans of the negatives, so you will be able to make prints from them, or use them as files.
We can take the time then to work on a solution for a book or fine-art print. In both cases they will be done by hand in my studio personally.
Film is making a comeback in the photography industry for good reasons. It just gives back something special and different. If you are a lover of this kind of photography or you just look to have your wedding photography with a touch of uniqueness just get in touch with me and we can get into details.
You may trust me in this photography genre for valid reasons:
I started taking wedding photography assignments in 2004 (time flies) and film was the only way
I can bring a second shooter to take care of the digital part and fully dedicate myself to the film side
I have worked in many weddings using this approach, from private events to fashion wedding assignments.
I will follow everything personally: shooting, developing, scanning and final printing, so we will be in touch and have full control over the results you wish to have.
